ok, I have been dealt an 01 SL1 with a wrecked front end. I know from searching car-part that 00-02 pieces will fit. will any of the earlier front end plastics fit? My local PNP has 1 00-02 SL. As long as the body panels fit from another year that will greatly enhance my chances of getting a front end on this pile and getting rid of it.

The 00-02 cars were 1.2 inches longer than the earlier second gen cars. Evidently there was more changed than it looks.

front clip. Car was hit on both front corners separately. Since it's cold out both fenders broke, bumper cover is broken, hood can be reused. Headlights not sure about. Bumper absorber is missing.
It's a friends car. She bought it 3 months ago and has damaged it and it has other issues as well. I just want to make it presentable so it can be sold and we can get her into a reliable car. Right now she is driving one of our minivans.

if this is true, which I doubt, that added length is not structural.

I will tell you the fenders of a 96-99 may or may not bolt up. but the earlier design has a recessed crease just below the belt line, and the later design merely comes to a point. So where the fender and door line up you'll notice that difference. As long as you got a complete front clip, everywhere else should be fine.
