I realize Lexus is a luxury brand but I've seen both for the same $$$ and they both weight about the same. Most claim the 2jz engine is better than the supra's 7M.

Don't know much about the suspension on the sc300 or if you can remove as much weight from it like you can on the mk3.

Just looking for the best and most fun rwd six cylinder that I can fit my 9 yo step son into. Anyone have real life experience fitting people into the back seat of either car?

    Thanks Dan

    Neither is great.

If i was looking for fun only between these two cars, i'd rank it like this:

    1) 5spd SC300/Supra Turbo
    2) Auto SC300
    3) Any other MKiii

Open to SC400s? Or are you only looking for manual cars? (Manual SC300s aren't common)

E36M3 (the car, not the 4 letter word)

    VERY different price range, though.

Wanting a manual. What do you recommend? Keep in mind I'd like back seat, rwd, 6cyl,manual,not German or Italian.

    That gives you ummm....

    G35
    IS300 SC300
    Supra

    And maybe some weird Volvo?

I'd just get what you can afford lol. I really wouldn't bother with an n/a MKiii Supra, though. I'd take a MKii Supra any day before a non-turbo MKiii.

Thats why I wanted a comparison between the SC and supra. I was open to 3rd gen firebird/camaro or mustang ( w v8 )but the supra suspension is better. Can you fit a kid in the back of a z32 300 z?

Depends how much you like the kid.

I wouldn't try. Kid not riding up front because your girl is or something?

A MKiii Supra Turbo would be cheaper than a 5spd SC300, for the record.

You didn't say not British so XJS!

I absolute hate the SC300 so I would say Supra.

The SC has the same suspension as the MK4 Supra. It's basically a non-turbo luxury Supra.

I have a good friend with an sc400 with a 1jzgte swap to a w58 trans and that car is a blast. Lots of power and he has suspension done up which makes it pretty fun, not my style but fast and fun nonetheless.

7m out of the supra is just fine, responds well to mods (across the range, mild to wild), you just need to pay close attention to the oiling system. My MK3 with intake, 3 inch catless exhaust, and a shimmed wastegate was a blast.

Does the kid like cars? I happily rode in the back seat of our Mustang for years when I was a kid simply because it was a Mustang.

He loves cars. Tall for his age though so I don't want him feeling like a sardine back there.

Mustangs and Camaros both meet your criteria. Unfortunately, V6+RWD+Manual=Suck.

Get a nice 05 or 06 GTO and call it a day.

GTOs kinda out of my budget. Guess I'll find a supra and SC locally and take him with me to check out. I really don't want an sc300 unless its a manual.
