Does anyone run with the San Francisco SCCA? They have an autocross scheduled for this Sunday in Oakland and I have some questions.

First, is there a limited number of weekend memberships for events? Could I show up and not be able to run because I am not a SCCA member? I don't care about the extra $15 for the temporary pass.

Second, it appears as though the day is broken up into two groups - basically modified in the morning, stock in the afternoon. Do I understand correctly if I am running HS I don't have to show up until 11:30AM? I have not been to an autocross that runs this way before.

Hi there, let me see if I can answer all your questions. We do not have a limit on weekend memberships. Your total cost would be 35 +15 for the weekend membership. If your running in the afternoon, 11:30 sounds like a good time to show up. Hope this helps.

I'd think that if you show up for the morning and work it you'd have no problems getting to run in the afternoon group.

In reply to GTwannaB: I haven't run with them in a year or so, but this info should be correct:

-Morning and afternoon run groups are by class, not "stock versus modified". Look more closely. Just make sure that you register in time.

-Yes you can get a single event membership on the cheap.

The courses are usually quite good, although there always seem to be electronic glitches that slow things down.

    Very nice group of people.

This is part of their "slush series" of fall/winter events. Weather should be great. Attendance levels less than the mob scene that typifies the summer events.

    Have fun!

How does one get in on "Fun Runs"? Do I just show up and see if they are even going to run that sort of group and then sign up?

Cool, thanks this answers my questions. I have to see how my schedule works but I am going to try to make it on Sunday.

You can always come up to Santa Rosa and run with ESCA, too.

I guarantee you you'll get more runs that you will with the SCCA, 6 if people are being slow and there's timing issues, 8 is typical, and I've had 11 if the course was short.

You just have to put up with our wonky classing system.

RevDex: Your events sound like fun! I'll definitely have to run with you guys. I see that Bill Gemini participates as well. He owns, or owned my old Stalker. It'd be fun to see him in action too.

I run with there too I second what everyone has said so far. (Nice group of people, fun courses etc. etc.) I probably won't be out until the beginning of the regular season but if you happen to see a blue MR2 with orange bumpers stop by and say hi.
