So a local club is doing a Tracksprint at Autobahn Country Club and they follow SCCA Time Trial classifications.

So my car is a XR4Ti with a 302/T5z trans, adjustable suspension, big brakes etc etc. I'm thinking that it would fit into the T2, does that sound about right??

T3 sounds more like it.   Just a swag

T3 has the V6 mustangs so that’s why I was thinking T2 since it has V8 Mustangs.

You/someone swapped the 302 V8 into the car yes?

if so that bumps you to Max.

Max2 if you weigh more than 2250lbs Max 1 if you do not.

Even though the tuner class allows motor swaps? Modifications like coil-overs, headers and limited slip diffentials are allowed and common motor swaps are allowed

In reply to GPz11 :

I didn't see where tuner allowed motor swaps...

I went and double checked the newer TT website as well.

https://timetrials.scca.com/pages/tuner-category

Not seeing anything there.

I know a new limited swap class has been talked about in the book of faces group. But i hadn't seen anything happen as of yet.

The Limited swap class is "Prepped" https://timetrials.scca.com/pages/category3

They show it at the top of the info for the Tuner info.

The TUNER CATEGORY is for vehicles that are still appropriate for the street, but have a higher level of modification, adjustability and performance than the SPORT CATEGORY. Modifications like coil-overs, headers and limited slip diffentials are allowed and common motor swaps are allowed. All motors in this category must utilize stock internal components.

All Sport Category modifications, plus all modifications allowed by this section.

It probably really doesn't matter what class I go in, I'm just going to have some fun and will not be competitive

They wrote that for Tuner but did not add an allowance for a motor swap, that was left to Max.  Enough people argued the fact and they created Prepped.  The rules you have linked in the first post have been revised.

Perfect, missed it when I was looking for tuner info. But that would cover it.

lol

way to sum up the SCCA in one sentence:  “Enough people complained, so we created another class”

cheeky

Standard caveats:  this is just like my opinion, ymmv, caveat emptor, etc

Well, I'll sign up for T2 and if they bounce me, no biggie.

Just going out to have some fun.

The beauty of a member service organization is that speaking up works. And it's brand new expansion of the programs offered. The gap between Max and Tuner was also massive... lots of silly things bump to Max as well... like using a spherical anything In the suspension..
