I have a Honda CBR 600 engine that I do not need, and apparently, no one else does either. I got it from another GRM'er in exchange for a case of Smithwick's. I'm probably just going to take it to the scrap yard.

I haven't scrapped metal in a long time. Should I get out the impact wrench and separate it down into piles of steel and aluminum parts?

The place I bring my stuff they ask that you drain the fluids. Something like a gas tank or propane bottle has to be cut in half. Aluminum - steel - brass - whatever mix is sold as Tin.

    It's metal stew.

If you weren't in CT, I would take it off your hands.

Same problem with a cb750. Ill check tomorrow with another guard here. He runs with a sport bike club. He may know somebody who will pay price and shipping.

Will the engine run? Does it have the carbs., starter, and wiring. Will it turn over? Same questions for you N Sperlo. If the questions are to the affirmative someone out there wants those engines!!!

It has carbs and an oil cooler, but no ignition. It was removed from a Formula SAE car. I offered it here before, but there were no takers. I'd just like the case of beer back.

I would take it off your hands if you weren't in CT either. Does it turn over and in not locked up?

    Yes, it will turn over.

Most scrap places just offer one of several flat rates for engines. You could strip it down and separate it out, but your labor won't be rewarded with much more money.

I would LOVE to have that engine and we had talked about this one before... darn you and your new england address.

Cb750 is not locked up, has the transmission attached and the carbs are being stored where there is less tornadoes. I'm in Saint Louis, Missouri.

If WilberM3 falls through, I will come and pick it up. I'm in Avon, and i will bring you beer.

fat-guy-ninja-edit: this weekend, unless you want it gone sooner.

    WilberM3 and JPaturzo have mail.

Looks like it's been saved from the scrap yard.

after thinking about it i'm gonna have to pass, i really dont have a good place (of my own anyway) to store it for a build, i just dont want to see a perfectly good engine go to scrap.

Odd... Someone just called about the engine.... If it passes a compression test, its sold. Apparently.

seems to me if nothing the carbs would be worth something to someone... not sure of their size... but I can def see someone removing the carb parts and making them into ITB or something GRM like that

I knocked down the price and advertised it as carbs with a free engine and transmission. Worked.

Part it out on eBay. Carbs, head, jugs, starter, side covers... everybody needs MC side covers.
