I'd really like to work on my driving a bit, but money is really tight right now.

Right now, $30 or $35 each time for autoxing is more than I should do, plus all the tracks I know only run on Sundays, and I'd rather not give up church every time I autox.

Middle GA SCCA (at Watermelon Speedway in Cordele) and Dixie SCCA (at South GA Motorsports Park in Cecil) are my two frequent haunts.

ATL, Birmingham, Gainesville, FL, are all within a potential range. I'd do the $30 per month if I could do it on Saturdays. I'd rather more frequent.

Any thoughts? Trying to keep it off the street.

Atlanta is hosting a stop of the National Street Tire Challenge on a Saturday in August. Otherwise, Sunday Sunday Sunday!

Put a "10 dollar roll cage" in any of your existing cars. Go dirt trackin'.

Probably easier to find a church open on a Saturday.

The auto-x god is fickle and his flock is not as large so to worship the holy cones... you have to make the one or two ceremonies they offer.

Hey rex - just for reference, Mid GA SCCA is running at a high school stadium in Macon now, I think the last watermelon event was about 3 years ago.

The stadium's ok if a little tight. The pavement surface shreds tires like a cuisinart.

I agree about missing church, but once a month I'm willing to skip church and go drive. I figure God understands, he (she, whatever) is the one that made me a car nut.

HEY! I just realised my avatar is at Watermelon Capital Speedway, shot at one of the last runs there. My buds and I all parked on the banked oval and took some pics after the awards were handed out

If you're near Alpharetta, check out karting at Andretti Speed Lab, but go Monday nights (bombshell) and it's 1/2 price racing, I think 8 minutes for $10, least it was a year ago when I stopped going, total blast, easy as fun as AutoX cause you get to work on your lines, but also get traffic mixed in. Very fun, $/time...

Another alternative is Malibu Grand Prix in Norcross, open wheel cars, no they're not the most amazing thing with open diffs but the course is alot of fun and challenging, and it's timed, so it's like AutoX, but much cheaper, no waiting, but yes the cars are autos...

Gotta love church on Saturday nights with the Catholics.

3 years? My how time flies!

Cecil has a better road surface, so that's been my choice for a while.

Maybe I should switch to Judaism.

It might be a fun and thought provoking to go to temple on the weekends you are going to autoX. That way you get to worship (in a different way) and race. I've always thought Temple was more fun the few times I've gone.

But this is coming from a life long atheist
