I don't imagine Yamaha has anything to do with this one, right?

That sounds like the difference between "'y'all", and "all y'all"!

Or, maybe the difference between a "Yankee" and what everyone calls me- a "Damned Yankee"!

Well the festiva with the SHO motor was called the Shogun.

If it was the only name for the car I'd call it the sho. Seeing as how it is the Taurus SHO it make sense to sound out the initials.

Um. That would be "y'uns." Stupid yankee.

Well along with Alfa Driver and all other Ford employees I use the acronym SHO not the abbreviation S.H.O.

At the Ford dealership I once sold cars for, it was referred to as "S. H. O."

For all those that pronounce it "show", do you probounce "GT", "XL" XLT" and the like?

I don't think TIVO is an acronym....guess I should've spelled it Tivo? If I refer to it as a DVR I call that a dee vee are not a deever.

I know a little about initials, having used mine as my name my whole life....although some people have called me teej. I figure with all the other things I've been called that one's not so bad.

When did Bimmer become beemer anyway?

So in 20 years when these things are damn near free we might still be able to get parts for them?

Probably more of a chance that the parts will be available.

Stupid Damned Yankees have to earn the "Mr." part; the stupid and damned are a given.

This - from one of them.

And the use of "show" over S.H.O. rankles my wrinkles.

I think Beemer came before Bimmer. I don't know when exactly, but at some point in history BMW motorcycles were racing against BSA bikes, which were called "Beezers." It sounds like a chicken-or-egg thing to me.

Anyways, here's how I tell the two apart:

    Beemer: bike.
    Bimmer: car.
    Bummer: not having either!

Doesn't matter to me. I didn't even know there was a new show till I read about it on this thread. Not trying to knock it - just saying it exists in a different automotive universe than I inhabit I guess. I'm still confused that the Ford 500's are badged as Taruses. My point was to point out the fact that I am not in the loop when it comes to either new cars or teeeveeee comercials.

I too was surprised when I heard the commercial because I always called them S.H.O. as opposed to show. Don't know that I ever heard it pronounced one way or the other officially. I suppose if Porsche, RUF, and Csaba Csere start doing commercials, it might clear up a few more things.

No, because they are awkward and don't sound like real words.

You spell out NASA, SCUBA, PETA and RADAR each time you say it right?

You guys seem to be missing an important point here... They are just words. The ENTIRE purpose of words and speech is to convey ideas, not hold yourself above others because you were more right. If you make a sound, and someone else hears it and knows what your talking about you have gotten it right.

FIAT: Fee-ought or F-I-A-T or Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino? SAAB: Sob or S-A-A-B or Svenska Aeroplan AB?

I think we all do it to a certain extent.

Anyway, I call it a Ferd.

    Not really.

What if you had a NASCAR SHO with NOS?
