    A 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera?

    Here is the one. http://raleigh.craigslist.org/ctd/2684800045.html

The mileage seems decent for the year, but I am worried about a $15k engine failure down the road. The dealer is asking 14k and some change for the car, but I think I can get them to come down some. Anyone have any experiences/horror stories with these cars?

I am going to test drive it as soon as this rain lets up.

    Thanks.

Can the answer be miata? Maybe LS1 miata???
Seriously, $14K for that? I'm not up on P-car prices but that seems very low and the color is killer! I totaly lost my desire for 911's after working on them.

We're obviously going to talk you out of that, right?

Get it inspected by a specialist who knows these cars well. If you get a good one they seem to last well, it's just what happens if you don't that scares the beejezus out of me.

Well, it's ugly. And the engine is in the wrong place. And back seats in a sports car? pass.

(there, we tried to talk you out of it. Now enjoy)

Good call Tim. There just happens to be a Porsche dealer right down the road from this place. I might contact them as well. This would be my DD so I want to make sure its good to go for a while.

See if you can find a specialist, but the dealer should still be pretty familiar with these - it's the older ones that they often haven't seen for a while.

The price isn't that off if I take into account the usual price differences between left and right coast - I've seen the around 20k out here.
