I got an offer for my civic for an '01 Focus ZX3. Its a 5 speed base model ZX3 with manual windows, no sunroof, it does have a recent engine replacement in it, new alternator, new timingbelt and waterpump, new battery. In terms of getting a DD, what should I do? . It definately needs some cleaning, but it runs and is considerably newer, plus the wife has a black zx3 that she got new and that thing is as reliable as anything i've ever seen!

Absolutely not.
Once your Civic is sorted out, it'll be just as reliable, WAY faster, handle better, get just as good gas mileage, and look better.
If you REALLY want to get rid of the Civic, let me know.

ZX3 + SVT suspension = unbeatable DD (IMHO)
(I'd get a Duratech, car, though.)
(And I can't speak to the financial side of the trade.)

I would stick with the Civic.

Aren't the 01s prone to engine fires?

The PO had a new clutch installed and said it was still slipping the day he got it back. Today I pulled the slave off and noticed the root of my issue. The slave cylinder rod was too long and was holding the pressure plate in just a hair. No slipping now. So that basically does the deed, I'm gonna keep the Civic. If the clutch does go out, the NAPA store said they will trade it back no problem (nice to know ppl). Woot! Now just gotta get a P30 or P72/ or a socketed p28.

Good choice. I had the focus, and I think I would like the swapped civic given the choice between the two.
