I'd trade a RX-8 for a garage in a second and drive whatever it took to make it happen with a smile. It'll be worth it. Having no payments is icing on the cake.

Agreed 100% with Toyman. Having a place to stash the toys is far more important than a sporty daily, at least to me.

Besides, if the GM gets too boring, used PI suspension and open headers are cheap.

I'm jealous of the rx8, but in this case, ditch it.

Lets see, bored w/RX8 so get a Grand Marquis. Does not compute. Now trade RX8 for garage makes perfect sense..........Here, that is.

There's still not much torque in either coming from a Chevy LT-1.

I'll have to find a P71 in the junk yard for springs and sways because my only beef with driving this car is the ocean liner ride quality.

late model mustang wheels bolt right on but the offset is wrong, you can use mustang hubcentric adapters to fix that (same center bore as a panther). I used 2" rear 1.5" front but if I did it again I would probably do 1" front and 1.5" rear, the rear tires would rub the fender lip on bumps if I had the trunk really loaded.

So yea its a big "turd", but I still had no problem consistently finishing mid pack at local autocrosses with only some sway bar/bushing upgrades and mustang wheels with crappy cooper street tires. with the 2.73 rear, I could lock the trans in 1st gear and just go at it, it was geared so long.

Good place to track down parts. Crownvic.net classifieds section on the forum. ADTR.net is great too, great customer service.

I am getting rid of my car soon and have removed a bunch of parts that I will need to move soon, probably a few weeks from now. Youve Got an email.

    In reply to rotard:

I love my house and my neighborhood so I'm not planning on moving any time soon.

I have to put the car on the lift tomorrow just to make sure nothing's bent or pouring out of it. After that it should be a done deal.

Thanks for the links and email failboat. I'll be in touch.

For those that don't get it already, this is one o Matt's cars that had a decent result lately.

Matt, I have run a LOT of those Pathers, they are good solid reliable transport, easy to fix and very nice cruisers as a bonus. Most of them last 250 to 300K.

A Gran Marquis is a turd. You can slap a suspension onto it, but it will still be a large turd. If you take some money for a garage and PROMISE that you will buy a Miata, we might let you do it.

Tell that to the miatas, 911, WRX's and everyone else I beat at autocross with a 4500lb panther wagon.
