I'm not convinced the Viper was really any faster than the Porsche - certainly not in traffic. He certainly made enough tries to get by on the first half of the lap, but just couldn't make it stick. Even at the end of the video, we don't know who was in front after a couple of turns. In an enduro, I'd rather have the Porsche driver behind the wheel of my car.

Loved the Porsche taking the flat line around the Karussell because of the slow car on the banking.

I thought it was "blinker on the side you want to be passed on" in Europe - but really, it's just a courtesy thing.

That's a must do before I leave the planet - drive the 'ring in a Porsche.

Man, those car were evenly matched. Way fun to watch. The Porsche closed the door , hard, on the Viper a few times.

I couldn't believe the viper didn't smoke him on the long straight- watching that Porsche late-brake his ass just blew me away. I figured he had 10+ car lengths on that. Cool video- those Porsche's must have: 1) great brakes 2) a lot more horses than I thought.

Every time i watch a video from the 'Ring, i cant help but think of how narrow that track looks! Not sure if it actualy is or not, but with the walls all the way around it with no run off room, at those speeds...id be scared E36 M3less driving by myself out there. Toss in all those rolling roadblocks...

This is the first time I had to use my brakes sitting at my computer

The opposite is true across the Atlantic, as far as I understand. I believe the etiquette there is to use signals to convey your intended direction. That is to say, if you're going to move off the line to the left, you signal left.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct. On the ring you signal to indicate your own intent. They have the better idea on that one... rather than trying to boss others around when being totally smoked :)

Kind of like Watkins Glen. You've got the edge of the track, three blades of grass then triple layer Armco.

As far as Viper being quicker than the Porsche - he did run the Porsche back down pretty easily twice after getting caught in traffic. What the video can't show is how hard the drivers are pushing their cars. It kinda looks like the Viper is more in cruise control mode than the Porsche. My only experience with "The Ring" is on GT4. I am amazed at both the similarities and the differences. The track looks much narrower in real life. Very cool video. Makes me want to spend a year or two of my life living in Germany.

I wouldn't say the Porsche driver was better or faster. He was definitely better at track and traffic management, though.

Honestly, now, how many of you GT4/Forza gamers were trying to "view" to the side/back on the straight to see where the P car was?

A friend of mine got to drive the ring a year or two ago. She was working PR for a battery company and they had some contest and the winner picked an European tour with cars and driving thru europe as the focus. But when the people were like "we're use to driving in Florida, not on mountain roads with cliffs and stuff", my friend got to drive everywhere. Even on the track with a couple of brand new MBs and BMWs IIRC. I cant comprehend why those people picked that as their trip when they didnt want to drive the cars.

I have to admit, I was confused as to where they were at first, because the Forza version of the Nurburgring doesn't have that infield section.

Yeah, I'll just go hang my head in shame with the Lambo guy

That's because, IIRC, the enduros at the Ring run a combination of both the F1 track and the North Loop that we GT/Forza players are familiar with. And yes I was wish I could use a look to see where the Porsche was on the big straight

I've got almost no "seat time" on the 'Ring in GT4 - but I've had the chance to drive it a couple of times. Two laps the first time, six the second. This was back in about 2000 or so - and I can still recognize a surprising percentage of the track from those memories. It's burned into my mind.
