I always wondered why ford didn't put the 4.6 4V motor + speed in it . . . I rode in one and really liked it . . . Lincoln LS are pretty cheap around these parts. A LS + 4.6 4V + manual =

Yes.

And according to some South African company, they boost quite nicely, thank you very much. Now if I could only remember the name of that company- it was a mid engined car....

Hmm. So, take an LS, drop it a couple of inches and throw some 18" x wide rubber at it, tint the windows, maybe a small spoiler to give the ass some character, and then boost it to the 350 WHP level.

Sounds like a decent M5 fighter.

Several Contour/Mystique/Cougar owners have swapped 3L Duratecs into their cars and then turbo'd them. The stock pistons start breaking around 375hp (IIRC, some years are better than others). With aftermarket rods and pistons, 500hp is easy. Noble spent a lot more money guaranteeing their engines' reliability.

The problem with the LS manual is it can't much more torque than what the V6 puts out (at least by OEM standards).

Back on topic, I do love the lincoln LS. Very sweet car! The V6 offers 220hp which does not seem too shabby to me. 5-speed cars all had the sport package.

The 4.6L 4V can be made to fit in a Lincoln LS, but it couldn't be made to work in a production setting. Ford Racing had one with a T56 and were planning to offer a kit and other performance products for the LS but it never came to fruition. Also, Jaguar put a lot of pressure on Ford to keep the LS's power well below the S-Type R's.

Back on topic, I'm really wondering what the resale value of the S63 will be in a few years. There's an 05 CL65 (600hp twin turbo V12) for $50,000 Buy It Now on Ebay, as well as an 04 SL55 for only $35,000. That's still a lot of money, if SL63s suffer a similar depreciation, I could see myself doing something stupid in a few years and seriously looking at one. They are incredibly capable and comfortable cars, I'm just worried what maintenance costs would be.

Words of wisdom IMHO...unless you can spend another hundred K to have a tech kidnapped, bunch of parts stolen, and have the whole package crated here from Stuttgart.

Don't worry, this is a Classic Motorsports story and not GRM. It does get me thinking some about Mercedes though, and they did and still do make some cool cars. I have not driven the new AMG sedans, but everyone raves about them. Glad you liked the ride and drive at the Classic Motorsports Mitty. We are hoping to do it again next year.
