that just seems like a very inefficient design

That's COOL. I've thought (daydreamed) about trying something like that. Those would fit under a Fox Mustang if you gave up some rear seat space. I like that a lot.

the exhaust gasses have significantly cooled off by the time they get to the muffler, sooooo the temperature differential these are working with is greatly reduced, meaning jack for power to drive the compressor. This is basic thermodynamics... I really wish people would learn it.

The STS kit for LS motors adds about 7 PSI I hear. Thermodynamics will be diminished but not eliminated.

I've seen plenty of cars like this on the internets that are plenty fast. It doesn't seem like it would work but it does.

The sts kit though is an inline design. the turbo is NOT mounted to the Side ot the muffler. That really just looks like a bunch of crappy welds (I don't weld and I can see that looks like crap). You'd be better off mounting a flange inplace of the muffler and directly bolting the Turbo to that. Just my .02

But that's not much of a sleeper if the turbos are easily visible...

It's clear that the aft mounted turbo setup works. You just have to size the turbine correctly. The same mass of gases are flowing through, maybe more if the converter is working :)

IIRC one of (our) WWII fighters had the turbocharger mounted aft of the cockpit. Front engine, obviously.
