If you have/know how to use a chop saw and MIG welder it's probably easier to to build a glorified bike engine shifter kart w/ suspension and drape a Berkeley body over it than to start with a Gixxer-a-thousand motor in a golfcart. I race a GSXR1000 powered car with a very well developed, purpose built chassis and it can have trouble getting the power down in optimal conditions even with 9" Hoosier 35s and Penske shocks.

A good basic reference is available from Amazon:

What a fantastic find! Berkeley often seen to be found in this sort of shape. A blank canvas I guess. I'd love to find one for myself but they don't seem to ever be found close-ish to home.

How about putting the Gixxer motor in the back of the Berkeley? (Man, the dirty thoughts... PIITB. ) A mid engine Berkeley would be a hoot. Might have to stretch the body a bit, but since it's fiberglass that would be pretty easy.

Based on the pictures I've seen, putting an engine behind the driver in a Berkeley would make it rear engined. Like a P car.
