with that much hp, the weight penalty shouldn't be all that bad

That is one of the reasons I ended up taking the plunge. He is a Mercedes-Benz technician by day, gear head by night. We met at the dealership he works at and put the car up on a lift to inspect the undercarriage. It was almost perfect! He stripped the chassis, blasted everything, then painted and sealed it all before starting the build. He clearly put a lot of effort into the build and is now going to build an LS1 Miata!

I am going to have my local guy give the car a once over and will most likely switch to the coilover set up I already have, then I'll be ready! I've always dreamed of driving Sebring, having been to the 12 hours many years in a row. I'm looking forward to being on the other side of the fence!

Good question, though this car has an LS1, not LS7. Even with the "measly" LS1, it's plenty quick!

I was wondering if someone would pick up on that point.
I do still have an engine-less TII sitting in my garage, though I believe it is spoken for by another board member (though not through donation). Not sure what his plans are for the car, but he has both more skill and time than me, so I expect to see it move under it's own power soon!

If somebody is selling the exact project you want to build for a reasonable sum of money, you'd be a fool NOT to buy it. Sounds like a really fun car, now you just need to promise yourself that you WILL go to the track events that you bought it for...if you don't drive it, then it would be a waste of money. Plus, you get to work on improvements (there's always room for improvements) and as you said you'll be months/years ahead of the game.
I'm jealous. Not of your new car, but that I can't find any checkbook mechanic who wants to buy my Fiero.

If you own no furniture, you've got the perfect idea with the 240Z. Lay the big TV across the back of the wagon on top of all the clothes put a hitch on the subie and trailer/drawbar the 240, catch a hop back and make a screamin run with the bike when you get orders to transfer bases. Sorry had to chime in on this one, I kinda miss the military lifestyle of moving every couple of years, or in my high school days, moving every 9 months or so.

BTW. NICE SCORE I've gotta come check it out sometime, I've got a TON of idea's on how to make that swap better, hence the clean T2 shell I'm looking at in Orlando. And yeah, it's HOT, I didn't realize you could stuff that much tire under a FC, and it seems like the guy you got it from doesn't waste any time, the link for pictures took me to a page that was pictures of a NB miata being stripped out.
