I've never known a chick who dug Corvairs.

a dozen???? thats a sign of a good car????????

in 17 years, I've owned 3 rwd twincam powered Corollas.

1 was a commuter in NJ(lasted 5 years)... it got hit, and was rusty, I stripped it for the parts.(94-99)

2 Was a rust free model, I owned it 11 years before I sold it for $7000 (99-10)

    3 I built myself - http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/reader-rides/2130/ (09- present)

I've wrenched on many Fiats, MGs, Triumphs, and BMWs, they all have charachter... but little else worthy. I'll admit the charachter on most Corollas is less than stellar... but look at it as a blank canvas, and make it her own

Problem is that she doesn't really know what she wants since she doesn't know a lot about older cars. All I can do is make suggestions and let her pick.

I can understand that... my g/f hadn't thought about Spitfires until I suggested them.

MHO: Send he a link to Hemmings and start browsing for a few hours.

Is this her whim of the week, or has she mentioned this in the past as a possibility?

Have her write down what attributes she would like in an "80s classic"(?). Even if they're not specific, they'll give you a way to go. "I want ti to be cool" doesn't count.

Buy a Hemmings, and have her look through it. Ask her if she'd be willing to check the oil level once a week, does she want to drive it year round? Is A/C a requirement? Is this a bring the girlfriends along vehicle or a you and her vehicle? (sedan v. 2 seater) Does she like your TR8, if so what does she like, doesn't like about it?

Does she want it when gas hits $4.50/gal+ (assuming you're not in CA, sorry if you are.)

Does she resent/gets really annoyed at your spending $$ on your cars, and this is sort of a te'da'te'? (Sorry if I insult, had to ask.)

Be glad she's not asking for a vacation home or to have the kitchen remodeled....

The 2nd gen RX7 'vert has really nice seats and looks dead sexy.

I also like the BMW 2002 idea. My wife really liked the red one we had. With her picking/agreeing on the car the color may be more important than the car itself.
