The other thread is pretty interesting, what a great story. This seems like it would be easy to clear up, were the checks cashed, and by whom?

Checks cashed, deals over. Checks not cashed, stolen car. Just because you wrote a check does not mean the owner agreed to a deal, once he cashed it, he did.

One last comment on this too and I'm done. No matter who actually own the car, it getting stolen was probably the best thing for it.

Considering that the original owner admitted to dismantling it and then left it outside to rot when he knew the rarity of it.

Now I'm sure that might not be the the PC argument, but if that car had not been stolen there would probably only be 3 left instead of 4.

One important thing to keep in mind about the thread over on the Ferrari board is that someone who is making a claim to the car is posting in there. It's like hearing one side of the courtroom arguments without the other side present and a lot of folks seem to be nodding along like there's nothing wrong with it.

I don't know that "getting stolen was probably the best thing for it." It would have stayed abandoned on some overgrown lot and probably put up for auction as an Alfa parts car. Even if it had gone under the gavel as a Ferrari, someone would have paid a very minor fortune for a free-and-clear pile of junk. Far, far better than this saga.

If Belgium wants to keep their economy intact through export of their waffles to the US - they had better cough up a Ferrari ASAP.

In reply to 4cylndrfury: Hmm, methinks the billions of dollars flowing between Belgium and the United States are probably a higher government priority than some old Ferrari. And waffles are sacred.

Wally...have you seen that Ferrari? Whose side are you on anyway? A real car guy would do whatever it takes to get another Ferrari on this side of the drink...the least you can do is eat pancakes for a few years...panzy

Wait, how does the daughter have a title for a car from 1954? I thought cars that old had a bill of sale. Every time I have bought a car I made sure I had a title from my state before I did anything more than drag it home. I also never bought a car that old with a bill of sale.
