The Civic won't start. I am sure it isn't the battery. Lights come on strong and tried jumping it that didn't work. Tryed push starting no luck there either. Did the old hit the solenoid with a screwdriver trick and nothing. Any suggestions from GRM.

So it's not cranking at all?

Those models are notorious for main relays going out. Might want to test that.

No cranking. I will take a look at the main relay.

If it was the main relay. wouldn't the fuel pump not come on? I hear the fuel pump.

    No click or anything?
Check your clutch switch if a manual. I know the older ones had issue with the "button" crumbling with age and the clutch pedal not engaging the switch even though the pedal was fully depressed. In this case you might find what looks like bits of blue crayon in the drivers footwell.

Main relay has nothing to do with the cranking circuit. Odd that it won't start from a push start either though. Try applying a jumper wire from the battery to the starter S terminal? Quick, easy and would narrow down the issue to either the starter itself or the vehicle's start circuit (fuses, ignition switch, clutch switch, etc).

Would this be the clutch switch you were talking about?

I've never had it happen to me but from what I've heard I'd say yes that looks like it.

    Google gave me this:

I'd think you'd be able to reach under the dash and push the switch in while turning the key to verify....make sure it's in neutral first!

If your Civic has fuel injection (you don't mention which year it is) not sparking/starting will also not allow a jump start. It's also not a good idea to push start a car with fuel injection, either.

    In reply to Run_Away:

So I tried pushing the switch in. And now I am hearing a click from the main relay that I wasn't hearing before but that was it.

93 EX. Why can't you push start it?

It was the clutch switch. The first time I tried it I forgot to plug the solenoid back up.

If it won't start by push starting, that is another problem. .

Couldn't you have unplugged the harness to the clutch switch? That's what the 240 had done to have the auto-start function work properly although I don't know if he got it to work properly. Sure berkeleyed up the wires.
