My old wrenching buddies lives have all gotten a lot busier in the past few years. I attempted to put together a car for 2010, but just couldn't pull it off alone. Looking to get a good group together for the $2011 Challenge.

I'm thinking we could try to get together at QSL in early December to meet up, and see if we all mesh well, then probably start working on a car in Jan, after the holiday insanity is over. I've got a two car garage, and have one project going already, but can change it up, too. Here's my thoughts for a project:

    1. My 1987 Firebird. We finish it, test it, and refine it. The most likely option.

    2. Some sort of tiny hatch with a FWD drivetrain stuffed in back. I'd say this is only an option if we've got a group big enough, dedicated enough, and insane enough.

    3. Other?

Main goal for the car is a respectable finish, and to have something that can be driven on the street once this is all over. Main goal for the group is to have fun, be safe, an work well with each other. Then maybe switch to someone else's garage/car for the next year, if we want to do it again.

If you're interested, and would have time to work on the car in 2011, let me know. You don't need to have a lot of skill, I'm not the greatest mechanic myself. However, abilities/skills/etc that could help would be: Experienced autocrosser, someone who owns a truck/trailer (or we're driving the car to Florida), someone with SBC or F-Body experience, and someone with excellent ebay/craigslist/negotiation skills.

I might be able to lend a hand depending on my work schedule. As of right now I work 6 days a week every other week so I don't have a lot of time.

I do have a roommate with a VR6 Jetta he wants to be rid of

MK1 Rabbit with a VR6 in the back?

That was my plan for 2010. White with blue stripes, and and side pipes.

Of course, now I'm thinking if I can get a painter on the crew, maybe blue with white stripes, and a gumball on the side big enough to fit the GRM number panel into.

As long as you don't change the overall design of the panel, I don't think there's any rules for altering them. I know of a few people to cut out some of the "white space" on their number panels.

I have painted a Miata before. I don't have the equipment or space to do another car though (borrowed from a friend). Although I may be able to talk to a guy I know in Columbus that has the setup for it.

One of my neighbors has also done one car. He's interested, too. The more, the merrier.

hmmm...I dont want to devote myself just yet...We are rehabing a foreclosed house in an attempt to flip it, so my weekends will be busy for the time being. That said, I may have some free time come spring. Keep us posted if you decide to end up at QSL for dinner, and i will try to be there. We are talking Milford QSL yes? if not, let us know.
