Just saw that Sir Stirling walked into an open elevator shaft and fell 3 floors in the building he lives in in London. He's in hospital with both ankles broken, 4 bones in his feet broken and some vertebrae problems. Still , pretty lucky considering he's 80 years old. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

He can walk on water, but not in an open elevator shaft.
Best wishes Sir Stirling.

An entire life of risk and danger and he gets taken down by the old "open elevator shaft" trick.

I wish him the best but i have to ask, why would you walk into an open elevator shaft? i mean, isnt it a little obvious?

Not so obvious if the door opens and you enter just like you have a million other times. Of course, this time, there is no car there and just about the time you think to yourself how dark it is inside, you have one foot over the hole - and the other foot follows.

Man that effing sucks. Think about it he surtvived racing with virtualy no safety equipment from the age when Men were real men, women were real women, and small, furry creatures from Alpha Centauri were REAL small, furry creatures from Alpha Centauri. Spirits were brave, men boldly split infinitives that no man had split before. And then this happens. It's a amazing how many race drivers having accidenets after reiting from a dangerouse carrier (Chapman, Hill, McRea etc).
Trivia, my Mother was at the British GP at Goodwood when Sir Stirling had his major shunt that nearly killed him back then.

Just goes to show you how tough you had to be to survive racing back then, If your still hardy enough to survive a 3 story fall into an elevator shaft at 80.
