Are stud pullers okay to use when installing extended studs? I know there is the lug nut method but using specialty tools is much more satisfying. Something like this set:

I does the tool work exactly. And how does it not damage threads when pulling them? The only reason I found out about these was Edd China used them on Wheeler Dealers.
I have that tool and it does work (I have the OTC version from toolwarehouse.net). I've never had an issue with damaged threads and I've had to put some pretty decent force on them to remove some especially stubborn manifold studs. It uses three internal cams that grip tighter the more torque you apply. At worse, you run a thread chaser die over them.
This tool will NOT work on most wheel studs, however... other than maybe the "bolt to stud conversion" type.
Are you putting in wheet studs? Those tolls are for pulling out threaded studs like on heads or manifolds like Ian said. For press in studs like wheel studs lugnuts or a press are your best bet.
