I may be picking one up to use as a Chump Car racer. What can you tell me about them and also is there anything that can be done for super cheap to make them faster?

I was wondering about motor swaps. But it being an inline-3, I don't imagine one of the boxer fours goes in to easy.

Some had 4 bangers. If you don't get an awd I would bet any small fwd engine would be as simple as a motor swap can be. Lots of empty space in a 3cyl engine bay.

Dual 600cc bike motors, one powering each front wheel.

The motors had a plastic valve cover that liked to leak apparently.

they are a little top heavy and not as quick handling as the Metro/Swift/Colt of similar time frame.

    The CVT's were junk.

    A little more info:

    Here's a potential part supplier:

BTW, the EF engine used in the Justy is based on the Suzuki G-series motors. You know the ones used in the Swift, etc? Yeah.

    I'll just leave this here:

I also believe there is a Suzuki Swift nut here on the board that knows all sorts of tricks to make the motors sing for cheap.....

So I saw something about swapping 1.6 liter Miata pistons into the Justy. Any ideas on whether this would raise or lower compression.

I'd look at swapping a Suzuki alloy 4-cylinder into the engine bay before tearing the 3-cylinder down.

Are the mounting points close to the same?

Dunno, I would ask the more knowledgeable 'zuki folks.

Either way, I would suspect they would be close enough that some liquid steel and bits of steel plate would make it fit.

I saw a justy at the junkyard once, looked to be half a flat six turned around so the pistoms pointed up??? Anyone have info, I recognoze this is probably 100% wrong.

    Looks pretty close to me.....

Not sure about the bellhousing or how the transaxle will fit.

a G13B will start a bit over 100hp and should fit. Vitara pistons are reported to lower compression enough for a turbo. See: http://teamswift.net/ and http://www.16vminiclub.com

I've got a complete running one that needs some work I'm about to sell, if anyone wants one. $400.

    Boxer 4- not a chance.

At least not in the front.

    Nope. FWD.

None of them were really AWD. They were 4WD.

I went searching for a Justy some time ago. All had bad engines.
