How about a resto-mod something like this? With a LSx and manual transmission, you won't see tons of them at the shows.

i'm in FL no MI so my thoughts may be a tad different... also only have the 2 lil bits... so I could get away with only 4 passengers...
my kids like bright colors, and semi loud... loud is percived as being fast... an occasional quick start, stop, or turn makes them think they are in a race car... and cooper LOVES the idea of a convertable... he's realy diggin on Jeeps...
wife wants a VW cabby... i'd prefer a jeep or better yet a VW thing :) it's perfect... noisy, topless, and WEIRD looking :)
if I was set on a classic... my uncles got both a 4dr Plymouth satellite and a '73 (i think) celica... very classic muscle car looking... just small :)
