Well, tomorrow is the day my 356TD Targa car is supposed to be in Rochester for promotional pictures. It's going to be there, but it will be making the trip on a trailer

It came out of the shop for the first time in 4 long years Sunday and got driven on our private gravel "test track". Result -- an immediate OH SH*T moment -- clutch is slipping like hell! It's even slipping a little in first, second is awful, 3rd and up -- fuggettaboutitt.

Not an adjustment issue, I've got the free play set as per the book, cable is clearly slack with the pedal up, sooo, I guess it's time to see how long it takes me to get the lump back out again. Thankfully, my family have secured all firearms and sharp instruments in the area.

I'm thinking it's a problem with the throwout bearing. I used an upgrade bearing from an early 911 that needed to be modified to fit. I THOUGHT that I ground off enough stock for clearance of the longer collar of this bearing, but now I'm thinking maybe I was a few thou short of what was needed, but no way of knowing till I get back into the innards.

    Bah ---- humbug ------

Time for a Corvair Powerglide swap?

It dose sound like a throwoutbearing. The same thing happen to my 1970 beetle 2yrs ago. Hopfully you did not burn up the clutch.

Sorry to here about yor luck.
