so ive been driving my new to me 87 n/a 944 for a couple thousand miles and it's quite soft. it's a very lowly optioned car and has the smallest front bar (20 or 21.5, havent measured yet) and doesnt even have a rear bar.

i've been looking at two 944 turbo sets on ebay, an 86 and a later set.
the 86 is 24mm front 18mm rear but the seller says theyre fairly rusty including the rear endlinks.
the later model set is 24mm front and 16mm rear and he says theyre a lot cleaner set.

so coming from a very stock n/a no rear bar setup what would GRM do? how different is the 2mm going to feel? i'm kind of leaning towards the better condition set and if i build the car further along someday i'll just swap stuff again

Pick up the 968 M030 factory swaybars. Or spend the money on the Weltmeisters.

haha i'm trying to upgrade this thing as cheaply as possible right now as i've only got 900 bucks into the car total and i'd like to keep it challengeable at least for this year, if i end up keeping it. the weltmeister bars i'm sure are awesome but theyre worth about what i have in the whole car!
even the 968 m030 bars are reasonable but not on a challenge friendly budget, at least i havent found any yet.

the pair i'm looking at is only $126 shipped with bushings and endlinks. so i guess i'm asking if either turbo set is ultimately worth it for the cheap money?

Yep weltmeisters are the way to go if you can not find the 968's I have them on my 924s. HOWEVER the biggest gains (and the most noticeable improvement in driving feel) will be had by putting a set of Koni Sport (yellows) shocks / struts. I would to this before new bars.

I went with non-M030 968 sway bars on my 83. They don't have the adjustability of the M030 bars, but they were under a hundred dollars for the whole shebang, and they make a noticeable difference.
