I went to the Portland Swap Meet today (both of them, there's one at Portland International Raceway and one at the Portland Expo Center) and got a good haul. The best item though, was this Stewart-Warner tach for the Javelin:

The cool part about it? It has a Javelin bullseye in the middle!

Here's the Javelin emblem:

Pretty cool, huh?

I also bought a giant Tyco Pro slot car set just because it had a Javelin as the box art.

Nice! I follow Chevs of the 40s from when I had a Belair and I saw some of their pics from the swap meet.

How much was it if you don't mind me asking? Old cars parts go from free to hundreds of bucks depending on who you get them from and I have never had AMC stuff.

In reply to crankwalk:

I paid a grand total of FIVE American dollars for it!

(Admission is usually my most expensive purchase at the swap meet unless I am actively searching for something, like last years wheels/tires).

Now that is the a great deal! There have been so few times that I was willing to pay much more for something but was surprised to find I could get it few a few bucks from another enthusiast. You'll get some use of it and it wasn't doing anybody any good sitting it a box or on ebay for $100 as an antique that nobody buys.

So, was that tach a factory option for a Javelin or is the bullseye logo a happy coincidence? I'm guessing it is OEM, as it doesn't look like an aftermarket S-W tach.

As owner of an old Pontiac I know how it is at swap meets - unless you're looking for a Ford or Chevy part, chances are you aren't going to find parts for your car.

Man I miss going to that swap meet. Out here there is really nothing of the kind. There are a few shows each year that basically always have the same cars. Sometimes I miss being closer to the big city.

I haven't figured that one out yet. It's not a factory option, that's for sure. It might be some sort of a dealer accessory add-on, though it might not be licensed by AMC (who never trademarked the bullseye).

then think how difficult it is to find import stuff

A decent import swap meet is lacking out here in PacNW-land...

I remember enjoying a few import swaps... and MANY domestic swaps back when I lived on the east coast... not too many out here....

Now you just need that motor to be capable of 8 grand...
