    Hey guys,

Some of you may have remembered my post on buying a newer truck about a month ago. Well I think that is not going to happen this year and maybe not next either. But I still need to do something about my 01 Dodge van that is falling apart, and I am getting sick of.

I have always love the FJ60 wagons, and have recently been thinking about maybe replacing the van with one. However I have a few questions. The prices of the things seem to be all over the place. What should I expect to pay for a nice example that isn't modified? Why is it you can't get the slightly newer ones(FJ62's) that are fuel injected with a manual trans? Were they never offered that way? Could an FJ60 tow a 3500 lb pop-up camper relatively safely? Are these as reliable as any old Toyota? Do you guys think I am crazy to want an old FJ wagon?

The FJ62 was offered with all sorts of engines and transmissions - just not in the US :(

An FJ60 will tow your house off the foundation. The 2F engine is a pirated copy of the 250 Chevy I-6.

Thing is, they're geared low, and no overdrive. You can tow the camper, but you won't want to do it fast or far.

    Starting with Dodge Van.
    Want 4x4
    Want to tow.

I think the answer is AWD Chevy Astro.

You would be following in the footsteps of another board member.
Do you have access to a small plane? You may need it.

I don't want or need 4wd,but it seems that is the only way to get a Land Cruiser. My van does every thing I need it to do,but it is getting tired, and falling apart.

I live one mile from a small municipal airport, but I don't have nor have a friend that has a plane. That would be fun however.

FJ60/62s are wicked cool and can do lots of things. Towing is not one of them.

I would not get one if you don't want or need 4WD, either. You're looking at a HUGE price premium, 10mpg, and so-so highway manners for what over a truck or a van? Image, really. A nice example will run at least $5,000, literally two of the Astros I just bought. One of the reasons, perhaps, that I'm getting rid of mine. Wanna buy it?

    ....Wait? What?

A "Talk me down" thread where people are actually....TRYING TO TALK HIM DOWN?!

Good lord! What is happening to this place!?

    MIATA!!!!

Err, in other news: Some neighbours of mine had an FJ60 for as long as I can remember, replaced it only a little while ago. That's my only experience with them. I would get it is reliable as all hell as long as you keep rust at bay.
