    Well I test drove it.

Engine seems torquey and plenty of mid-range shove. Didn't really rev it out to hard, considering the amount of traffic on the road.

Car drives well, seats are comfy, controls seem well placed for my size. I really have only two complaints about the car.

That rear shock tower bar saps ALOT of potential room in the hatch. Which is a bummer, my '88 300ZX I had in high school and college had LOTS of room for stuff, and I was hoping for the same.

Rear-side and rear visbility is poor at best, but this seems to be par for the course on all modern "sporty" cars.

Would a G35 fit your needs better then? More room+more glass on the same platform sounds like just the ticket.

    I'll throw my 0.02 in.

I bought an 04 350Z enthusiast new (its actually an 04.5, same updates as the 05 car). I've done about 50 track events in it. Its been dead reliable except for the driver's side window. The brushes wear and then the motor needs to be repalced. Its $120 ish for a rebuilt replacement with a lifetime warranty. I also replaced the shocks with Konis when they wore out.

As a daily driver, it needs nothing. It does have a giant aftermarket if you're into that. I get 20-25 mpg in town and 25-30 mpg on the highway. It seems to get better mileage at higher speeds. My best mileage was getting with a group going 90-100 through rural Illinois. I got 33 mpg on that tank. A/C is a bit weak but I think that my headers radiate heat through the firewall.

As a track car, it needs bigger brakes. The stock, non-Brembo brakes are pathetically small. It also needs swaybars to get rid of understeer. I keep thinking about selling it and gettign something racier (like a shifter kart or a formula ford) but I enjoy driving the car. Next up on the to buy list is a new limited slip (the viscous ones don't hold up on the track).

My drivers side window (G35) motor went out at about 70K too, not that big a deal. AC compressor also went out while under warranty.

I can't believe you could get in ANY track time on the non-brembo's, my weenie calipers & rotors were toast after 2 days. I went whole hog on 4 wheel StopTechs and never looked back - power & feel were great, and worth every penny.

A set of Hotchkiss sway bars was the 2nd best money I spent on that car, highly recommended.

I don't know what magic juice you're running on, I got 21 mpg in 70% highway driving, nowhere near your #'s.

I get about 26MPG on 80% highway (but I've got an auto HR) When I got it, I didn't know how to drive manual and had lots of bumper-to-bumper driving in my commute.

I can't complain about its performance, really. I only have two desires relative to the manual version, which will eventually be resolved:
Manual mode shift lag, can be improved by software/shift kit
I want a shorter gearing on the rear diff and a quaife.

Those last few posts make me feel pretty decent.

If all works out, I'll be picking up a 2006 Touring with only 20k miles on the clock.

My 07 has about 35k on the clock, and I bought it in Oct 07!

Brought home a Pikes Peak white '06 Touring with Leather/BOSE/6 spd, with only 20k miles on it last night.

Love the car and how it drives.

The VQ is fantastic. Plenty of low and midrange shove and seems to pull hard to the peak. I'd call it deceptively quick.

Call it YOURs, because you wanted one and found one you liked. It doesn't matter what others would choose.

    Congrats!

    Thanks!

It's EXACTLY what I wanted out of a car. I'm going to leave this one BONE STOCK.

Quick, nice, fun to drive and doesn't kick my a$$ over every little imperfection in the road like both my E30s on coilovers did.
