Didn't a Turbo'd V6 Mustang run 8's at the Hot Rod Pump Gas Drags this year? Plain white one IIRC.

Don't know much about these cars but i was talking to a guy who brought one to the last autocross i went to. His had a 302 in it and sounded AWSOME. I would think that the 5.0 motor is the way to go when you start takling hp/$.

Um, it's true you won't get the torque curve/power of 3.8 (which I recently enjoyed in a rental convert mustang and was very impressed, I swear I thought it was a V8 at first) with a boosted 2.3T, but cheap upgrades like a Holset, IC, Injectors, fuel pump, wideband, tune (Megasquirt or mod stock ECU) will have you producing 300-400 WHP on a stock head, cam, and bottom end. I know for a fact you can do the above upgrades (minus the MS) for under $800, and it takes very little time to swap out the parts, it's all bolt on (unless you do MS and there's alot of eletrical but fun and interesting). At power levels quoted above I wouldn't advocate using the T9, a simple T5 conversion (bolts right up with the correct kind and reuses a stock Mustang 1-piece DS, you just have to adapt it to the Diff). We converted our T9 to a T5 for $350 (used) w/DS.

I think you'd have trouble modding a 3.8 up to 300-400 WHP & transmission for the price and with all the time spent custom fabbing of engine/trans mounts and a custom driveshaft. I'm not saying it's not possible given the right deal of the week, I'm just saying you can get readily accessible parts and get alot out of the 2.3T w/o much effort.

A 3.8 swap would indeed be sweet, I've seen a few 5.0 swaps and one Folvo (DOHC Volvo head mated to a 2.3T block), It would most likely be one of the best swaps possible due to the light weight and very broad power curve of that gem...

I just wanted to congratulate you on using the wording 'teach me' for this thread.

Many others use the execrable English 'learn me', which offends me and which will never receive any response even if I happen to know pertinent information. Right up there with 'my bad' in the bad English sweepstakes!

I wanted one for 12 years. When I finally got one, I was throughly unimpressed.

Though, the XR4ti did immediately follow the X1/9 in ownership. I didn't want to have to give up the X1/9, so I don't think I ever gave the XR4ti a fair shake.
