My 2.5rs race car is a salvaged car. Alignment was fine, but you can see the bends in the trunk floor pan. Best $750 I ever spent. An afternoon with a hammer and you can barely tell there was ever a problem.

    that's what she said.

you can buy it when i'm ready to sell. i'm hoping to squeeze 262k out of it, but am not really holding onto that hope very tightly. it may be for sale sometime in 2010, but for now is reliable so i'm going to keep driving it.

    Zing!!!!

I'd rather see you boost it anyways. I think i may need another Toyota to balance out the mix again.

My Miata was also a total. Never had a problem with it. Only way you can tell it's not quite right is it has a [replacement] driver's door with a power mirror, yet neither the car nor the passenger door is equipped for power mirrors.

See what the buyback price is from the insurance before you completely walk away. Someone here may buy it from you.

When i totalled my Miata, insurance gave me $10k (exactly what i owed) and said buyback was $800. I didn't have the cash which killed me considering the JR supercharger and other tasty bits still on the car...

So yeah, buy it back and drive it or sell it to someone here.

I'll be checking into the buy back tomorrow morning. If it really does come out to be that cheap I'll give it some more thought.

I would buy the car back from insurance and either part it out or re-sell it! I have bought back two cars from insurance after they were totaled and each time I got such a good deal I just couldn't pass it up! I made a few thousand dollars on each one after parting them out. The extra money you get from that could help a lot when you go to buy a new car...

or you could strike a deal with a GRM board member to cover the buy-back and give the car to them. you wouldn't be out any money, and someone here would get a cheap SVT Focus (since it sounds like you're not in a position to do something with it yourself).

I am buying the car back. Never realized it would be so cheap! Once I get the title back (it will be salvage) I'll go about selling or parting out. 80k svt for a cheap rally car anyone?

I saw one of these walking back from class yesterday too. If its an 03' that makes it 1 of 301. Or 1 of 300 now.

One of my wifes standard questions is usually "Where is it". I guess we have done enough Gainesville-PA-Gainesville type car fetching trips for her to know my tendencies.
