My brother just stopped by with his male menopause car, a 2001 BMW Z3. Black on black on black, K&N filter and a chip.

It's quick, not uncomfortable and the short throw shifter makes me smile. I think he'll get a lot more use from this than he did from the Road King he traded for it.

You guys know of any chronic issues, things to look for?

I autocrossed one, almost fully prepped STR. Awesomely fun car.

As with all BMW's of that vintage (and maybe others?), the cooling system. If he doesn't know when the water pump and radiator were last replaced, he should go ahead and do that job. Also coolant neck (unless it's already aluminum) and thermostat.

If I could get all the leeches off me, there would be a Z-3 in my future.

Ask him if he'll give me the steering rack.

Hehehe. He owned the car three days when me made an outside move on some turtles. He wicked it up, took them on the right side and blistered past at 90 mph. He didn't realize the black SUV behind him was a State Trooper.

He got a pass: "You worked hard to get your CDL, lets work hard to keep it"

    ...and it was his birthday.
