ok so i think i have too many project cars and wouldlike to hear experiences or insight from you guys as to what to do... i have four cars , not the most i've had but definetely the most varied,

1: 78 datsun 280z with and rb25det, rusty...very rusty . but scary fast. i bought a trans for it after i broke an rb20 trans , i need to get the correct driveshaft to drive it again...

2: 91 honda civic hatch dx 5spd no p/s no a/c factory . have a whole( down to axles mounts, wiring etc) b16a/ys1 swap for it and a friend just gave me a good b18b block , i have st springs, and a few other bits for it, it's a whole project in a box, i haven't started on...

3: 85 toyota cressida luxury station wagon , stock save for cut springs, broken exhaust , and the wheels off my z , i have a 2jzge and a holset hw351 both need rebuilding....

    4: a 91 camaro rs 5spd with a "385hp" 355 that needs rod bearings...has eibach springs and kyb gr2s and 18x10r , 18x9f ...

Are there any that are important? As in, your "bucket list" of cars? Would you be able to get out of them the money that you have into them?

This determines my acquiring and selling order of cars I have. Cars that have no emotional value go, the ones that do stay. The datsun (for instance) has rust issues (lots it sounds like), so no matter what you do it will eventually die. Sounds like it is worth getting rid of sooner rather than later. You haven't even started on the civic, so not really any attachment there, and there doesn't seem to be anything particularly exotic about it (its a civic, the swaps been done before, yadda yadda).

    So, that's my take!

1 - "very rusty" says get rid of it

otherwise i would say get rid of #2 because 1, 3, and 4 sound cool while a civic is the usual ricer boy ride around here.

3 sounds by far the coolest. Just my two cents.

Body from #3, engine and transmission from #4, brakes and rear suspension from #1. Sell #2 to fund it all.

Yes it does, because plane tickets to Florida are cheap right now, and I want #3.

Sell #1 to the guy here wanting to drop a BMW driveline into his Dodge; RB25DET into a Demon would be a fun setup...

I take it you don't need any of them as a daily - so keep the shape that speaks to you. Combine with the drivetrain that rocks - ditch the rest. and if it's the z shape - use money from others to find a better body?

    RB25DET powered Vega?

  • Oct. 21, 2010 8:12 p.m. stealthfighter1 Reader

you know, i think the ticket will be? fix the camaro , repaint and spruce it up overall , then sell and buy wife nice 4dr/suv , use civic (real life model car) as dd , make wagon 2jzge-t 5spd ridiculously faster than it should be, then concentrate about 5 years on my z...and keep the herd the same size... lol

the only two things i NEED are a nice dd with a/c and 4 door 4 my wife and a dd for me that doesn't make me fall asleep at the wheel on my 45min comute from home to school to work to home

i WANT the scary unexpectedness of a fast i6 turbo car roaming on the weekends/ some weeknights ...and to not go insane by never tinkering.
