Apologies if this question is dumb but I'm getting ready to mount my Hoosiers on my Challenge wheels. I'm wondering, if there's one groove remaining on the tire, would it matter if I mounted the groove towards the inside or towards outside?

    Thanks, Bruce

I don't think it would matter much, but I'd put it on the inside.

Generally, the grooves go on the inside. The wider outer block provides more consistent cornering grip.

I asked this about my Nitto NT-01s, which have a similar thing going. Nitto said those should not have the bands on the outside. That may have been specific to the sidewall construction for that model tire though.

Come to think of it, if the groove is worn away completely on one side, that might mean that it's close to hitting cord. Maybe it would be better to put the side with more rubber on the outside to ensure that it lasts the whole event.
