I've always preferred the old dial gauges. I've used the same one for 10 years, and it's still accurate (check it periodically against other gauges).

I have a couple of the $1.99 HF dial deals and they don't have great resolution, but they aren't that inaccurate. Easily within a pound or two when compared to another gauge.
EDIT- Never ever ever get anything with plastics in it for the body, gauge, or head.

Agreed re: the plastics. No experience with the HF gauges, but I'm going to pick up a few next time I'm there. Always good to have multiples of those things around.
