Someone hit my son's E30 318is which we just finished fixing this Summer - new gas tank, Walbro fuel pump, springs, shocks, M3 suspension parts, Vogtland springs, rebuilt shifter, wheels, tires etc... It is just scraped down the side. It has 220,000 + miles & the insurance company wants to total it but is getting comps & will make an offer to him. He is at college in Delaware & just showed the insurance company today but he failed to mention these things we did to the car. I think he just sees $ signs since they said he can keep the car also. They said they will get a price & subtract the price a JY would pay them & give him this amount. Will the insurance company consider these improvements?

This can be a negotiation. Start by finding the classified listings of 3 similar condition 318is as a way of establishing market value.

Promptly print out these ads. Once these cars sell, the link to the ad will no longer work.

You want a high retail price and a low JY price.
