If I can get a set of brand new Toyo RA-1s for the Miata (205-50-15) for $100.00 each, is that a pretty good deal? They don't come with rims. I can pick them up too since they are really close.

    Thanks!

It depends on what you want to do with them. IIRC, those haven't been in production for a while, so unless they were stored properly they might be down a bit from their original stick factor.

If you want to have fun auto-Xing, and aren't worried about being the fastest, they should put a smile on your face for a long time. If you want to track on them they should be fine for hpde's. If you are chasing down the front runners in SM, you will be SOL, unless your last name is Said, Andretti, etc. . .

They went for 140-160each brand new, so I'd say they're a good deal.

Yes, it's a shame they're gone, it is the only tread pattern of the current generation that's really good for the street. All the rest are noisy and/or not that good in the wet.

and the spec miata racers would love to get them back... the ones I've talked to "hate" the replacement R888's

Massive props to Toyo. It seems most manufactures would just say "We are working on a replacement, until then deal with it".

Both Toyo and (especially) SCCA surprised me with that one. Two thumbs up.

Wow, I didn't see that coming. That's quite a turnaround.

The tire never actually got pulled from the Toyo product line, and every time I asked Toyo about it they said "no, it's not going out of production..."

Get ready for a lot of low-mileage 205/50-15 R888s to show up on the used market, like the flood of RA1s last year
