Is there any reason to upgrade my truck's ignition from stock? Its an 87 4x4 toyota with the 22r motor. Its lifted a bit with larger tires than stock and I use it offroad somewhat often. See below for my truck being a badass:

I don't know, but that truck is sweet.

Does your stock ignition work well? Do you need any extra features that an aftermarket or upgraded ignition will give you? A stronger coil might help you out if your current one is worn out. Do you have other power upgrades?

Well the truck starts on the first or second try (with some pumping of the accelerator) usually so I'm assuming it works fine. The distributer cap, wires and plugs are like 2 years old now. I have no power upgrades. I guess I'm just not sure what upgraded coils/whatever really do for you.

I wouldn't fix what's not broken. I might do some waterproofing (offroading for me equals wet), but if it's all working well, then I wouldn't futz with it.

So there's no real gains to be had by upgrading it?

Not without upgrading other things. Lighting a stick with a hotter fire still lights the stick just the same.

That was my thought as well. Thanks for reinforcing it
