Let's begin by saying that I know nothing about quads or any other ATV's, for that matter.

I'm not looking for something for sport riding, I'm actually thinking about utility stuff, ie: towing stuff on a small trailer, moving a larger empty trailer, pulling a thatcher, etc.

I found what appears to be a good deal on a utility quad that has 1600 miles on it. Unless it was used on a lot of long hunting trips, this seems like a lot to me. Is it?

Miles? IIRC, Most I have looked at have engine-hour meters.

worst case is a top end refresh for $300-500 depending

water cooled 4-cycle will last longer than a air-cooled 2-cycle

Bang for the buck, a beat up pickup truck has more utility than a beat up quad.

I guess 1600 miles isn't too many. It sold in less than a day. Honda Foreman 400 with a plow, $2000 obo.

    Damn.

My grandfather's '96 Polaris is still running, having been used for farm duty since new. I'd guess the Honda will run longer than the chassis will last.
