Basically stay off the button under the accelerator pedal, start at 2500 rpm instead of 2k, and gently roll into it. I honestly thought I was gently rolling in before, but I guess not.

It was in 'dyno-mode'?

Yeah I had it in dyno mode. That at least turned all the nannies off....great for burnouts!

Yeah no kidding. It was 160 miles round trip then did 4 pulls with it going over 160mph in 4th on the dyno, so I'm real happy the ol girl held together. The car is performing great, so the lower than expected numbers don't bother me too much. I'm almost at 190k miles now too. I'll post the dyno sheet later once I upload the pics.

The s600 should get Renntech treatment. Maybe I'll do a baseline vs tune when I get it

So after mulling it over I've decided to go back to the dyno and re-baseline with the stock tune, then let the benz cool down for awhile, then re-load the eurocharged tune and run again. I'll be data logging both runs for comparisons sake and hopefully will have some solid data to see what's going on. I won't have time to do this until mid/late April. The car runs great, and it definitely feels rowdier than stock, but my seat of the pants "dyno" is notoriously inaccurate, so back to the dyno it is. It might not be a bad idea to take the s600 as well for comparisons sake. The s600 has no mufflers, but is otherwise stock.

Cotton, this is super fun. I love reading this thread. :)

I don't remember - did you ever post a video of the S600 running without the mufflers?

No, but I should. It sounds great. If I get it on the dyno I'll have someone video it. The CL is super quiet in comparison....it really needs exhaust mods.

okay, I finally got a chance to upload the dyno sheet. I had washed the CL the night before, then it rained on me that morning, so dirty car on the dyno.

New sheet:

Sorry about the orientation....photobucket was not cooperating with me, but at least the RPM is on this one. This was in 4th gear and speeds were getting up there....over 160mph.

Hopefully, sometime next month, I'll be able to get back to the dyno and revert to stock, to get a meaningful baseline, then re-apply the tune and go again. The car is rated at 493hp and 590 torque stock, so the most recent numbers are pretty much right on for a stock car with 10% or so drivetrain loss. So basically something isn't jiving, but hopefully more dyno time with datalogging will point me in the right direction.

That's quite the torque "curve". And by curve, I mean straight line. This thing has to feel like a diesel truck but with more top-end pull.

Yeah, it really pulls hard and just keeps pulling. It's no real joy to work on, but there are some definite upsides to a v12 with a couple of turbos.

Another pic of the CL. That big tow truck in the picture is picking up my latest acquisition....it is VERY different from the CL.

1972 Chevrolet c10 fire truck! One owner since new and only 9900 original miles. It has the original 350, 4 speed transmission, and two speed rear end. Everything works and it's just a real cool old truck. I only had it towed because I didn't have it insured and really not sure if I'm legal to drive it...need to look into that. I had it in the front yard when my wife came home and hit the lights and siren as she was pulling into the driveway! Other than buffing it out, and getting some hoses so I can actually use it, I plan on pretty much leaving it alone. Looking forward to having a bonfire, then putting it out with my own fire truck!

Larry the cat really likes it.

No v12 turbo?

That's pretty awesome, what did Mrs Cotton have to say?

I think she questions my sanity pretty often, but she likes this one because she knows her nieces and nephews will really like playing on it. Plus I traded two other projects for it, so technically I actually downsized the collection by one.

If e30 bumpers are diving boards the front of the fire truck is a swim platform. Cool truck, thanks for sharing.

We have 10 acres and a lot of it is pasture, so plenty of room to drive around with something like the fire truck and have a little fun.

Our veterinarian picked up an old firetruck with the plan to use it to rescue larger sea animals and hopefully care for them until they can be released. He was driving it to work the other day when someone in an Accord pulled out in front of him at 45mph. Fortunately she only had minor injuries, but his firetruck only had a scratch or two in the bumper. So they're good for more than just a swim platform.
