The 1999 E36 M3 its injector pump this morning. So it needs a rebuilt pump (price range 1000-2000 for the pump). Plus the 99 needs new ball joints and some maintenance
The 92 is running, but needs an AC Compressor, various parts and the transmission is going to need a rebuild soon.
The dilemma is which truck to keep and fix. :violin:
Sell the 92 since it seems like it would be easier to sell (running) and fix the 99. You won't get a decent price for a vehicle that doesn't run since as far as a potential buyer knows, the ac and tranny on the 99 don't work.
Both are a sweet treat wrapped up by a turd outer wrapper, but I would fix the 99. The VP44 pump isn't that expensive, especially since you have the original. One thing I have found especially in the Dodge diesels is the lift pump causes nearly 90% of injection pump failures. the other percents are jackassry and lack of maintenence.
The ball joints suck, but aren't impossible to do in an afternoon. And if it's a 4x4, replace the track bar. It sucks that such a good truck got hampered by the factory leaving a 1/2ton front end under it.
I'd be interested in the 92 if you decide to sell it. That makes me biased.
If I was in your shoes I would keep the 92. The 12 valve motors are bullet proof. No electronic crap to fail, just a nice basic engine that will probably out last the truck by 50 years. I had a 91 for a short time with 480K on it until it got run over by a dump truck. I wish I still had it.
Sell me the 92 I miss mine. 265k on the clock when I sold it,and the NV4500 was super sweet compared to the factory Getrag.

I agree about selling the 92, fixing the 99, and the 99 has a stupid front suspension, and replace your track bar. 
Unfortunately those pics were eaten by a crashed hard drive many years ago. The truck was parked at a T intersection when a dump truck blew the stop sign. Even though it was 100 yards off the road, the dump truck ended up rolling on top of it. There wasn't much left.

And yes, the expensive VP44 fuel injection pump in the '99 will fail if the lift pump gives up since the fuel cools this pump. The crap OEM lift pump is marginal and is best replaced with an aftermarket pump.
