I have overlayed these with fabric before. I used some stretchy very low pile fabric and the 3m spray adhesive. Start in the middle and ran it to the outside. Then very carfully trimed the edges with a very sharp razerblade and tucked in the edges either under trim or oround and under the headliner. A dull screwdriver in various sizes helps with this. It is not quick but it comes out better than "ok".
An extra set of hands is necessary when starting out getting the thing in the car and obviously you have to cover the interior and mask things when spraying the glue.
This option is really only the way to go if you can not take the headliner out as to make it look good it takes time. Getting the thing glued up is an hour then you have at least a couple more hours trimming and tucking.
