    What do you have to change or can you use a 05 in an 01.

    I now know why this is my first and last Audi.

    someone ended up with a sludgy motor.......

    There are different versions of the 1.8T. Some are 150hp motors, some 180hp versions, some 225hp motors. All are slightly different, and some have bigger ports than others. Check around the vwvortex forums, there's a couple faq's on the differences.

    Is the head from the original engine good? I think the '02-up A4 had VVT, so I think the head will be different. If your head is good you can put it on the '05 bottom end and be good to go.
