I just got my block back from the machine shop, so it's time to start putting it back together.

Anybody have a go-to source for VW parts? I'm looking for bearings and a complete gasket kit. I've priced it at Techtonics tuning and don't like Rock Auto.

Does anybody have a favorite place?

    autohausaz.com

    germanautoparts.com

    blackforestindustries.com

It has been a while. Not sure of who is currently awesome.

I've used autohausaz.com and GAP successfully before. Also, busdepot.com and my personal favorite,

    parts4vws.com

Mike and Kristen @ parts4vws are awesome, and Mike really knows his stuff. I'm very glad to see they're back in business.

I have used most of the above and have been happy with the service and prices. I have also used RockAuto.

I use ecstuning for parts on my '05 GTi and never had a problem with them.

If you have the ETKA and can find the part #s, http://www.worldimpex.com/ is good for obscure parts. Not the cheapest, but they can get anything.

be a little careful ordering from autohausaz, their prices are good, but they have many mistakes on their website (one in particular which could be potentially cause serious injury or death if someone installed and used the parts), but they refuse to change any of them because the person in charge of that is the world expert on vw parts and a simple home mechanic should just stop complaining when they order the wrong parts. If there is any question as to what you need, check the part numbers in ETKA before you order anything, especially gaskets, cv joints, that type of thing.

These guys times a million for OE parts, especially since the poster is on the east coast.

Parts4vw can be very good too, but parts are coming from the left coast.

My opinion on ECS dwindles more everytime I deal with them.

I've been very happy with germanautoparts.com. I live about 20 minutes south of their warehouse, so I just call to see if something's in stock before making the drive.

Super friendly folks, and the ones I've talked to at some length know their E36 M3.

Would certainly use autohausaz.com if I couldn't get what I needed at germanautoparts.

germanautoparts.com gets my vote. I am located the next state over from them and if I order before they close for the day, UPS usually has it to me the next afternoon at standard ground rates. I get just about all my OEM or equivalent parts from them.

Good OEM or aftermarket parts at good prices. They have helped me locate good quality reasonably priced alternatives for things that are getting hard to find (or expensive) things like OEM moly coated steel syncros for my 020.

If you dont find something on their web site call or email them. They seem to have a lot of stuff that just isnt up on their web site. If you have a part number that can be helpful but not needed.

They also used to have used german parts. I got an axle beam from them once when I couldnt find a decent one in the auto yards here.

Hah, I lived in Halfmoon, NY at one point in time. That's funny.

I'll check them out. I'm looking to buy pretty much a complete upper and lower rebuild kit.
