So I am building the car to go on mountain runs and track days, but I may like to try some autocross. I think the car will be fast and I am sure I would have fun racing the clock, but what type of cars would I compete against. Will it be new Z06 vets or tube frame cars? I am sure will not matter at first as I think I would just get lost in that sea of orange cones.

Hate to say it, but by the rule book it looks like D Mod...I could be wrong though, I have not read ALL of the classes.

    I think E-mod. It's turbo'ed.

It's legal for XP, right? Isn't the pax for XP better than any of the mod classes?

XP since it doesn't have a motor made by the same company as the car, I believe.

yup. looks like I fail. XP it is. I thought all prepared classes made you keep the stock type engine. looks like I thought wrong.

have fun. I might be joining you in XP one day when I turbo a DOHC cobra motor for my Fox convertible...

oh, and it would not be D mod because it displaces more than 2000cc... Apparently I REALLY need to read my rule book.

    Eligible for E mod also.

I'm not seeing the displacement limit in XP rules.

OUCH! Those are some big $$$ cars

I was afraid of that. Well so much for trying to learn to be competitive. I will just have some fun.

    Thanks

Good news is, it's not like there's going to be a huge XP field in any region anyway...and yeah, the Cobras seem to be pretty popular here as well, though damned near un-autoxable.

Keep in mind, you can also just run in time-only if you're just going out for fun. If you're only going to go out to a couple events, this is sort of the "considerate" way to go too, so you're not messing with the competitive guys' points.

I would like it only if it had more stickers.

I've seen the XP porsche at one of our Seneca Army Depot events in Romulus, NY. That thing is terrifying. We usually don't have real cars at our events so our course was kinda fast and i was shifting to third in the civic to like just under 60 MPH. I heard the Porsche driver telling the event chair the course was way too fast. Apparently he was hitting around 85!! Gives an idea of just how much faster some of these cars.

I hate it that whenever i forget about the MRS, you guys manage to post another picture to feed to my obsession.

But yes.... needs more stickers, and there is simply not enough pirate content on that car at the moment.

Yup, from what I understand Nationally competitive SM cars are all geared to hit 70-75 in SECOND!

I think if you spent time you could develop the Porcharu into a decent car. It will take time thuogh.

    15x10's are your friend!

Some of those cars are big money, but it you can add enough lightness in there I think you have a decent start. Real question is going to be tuning that suspension, but I would think that this is a "easy" thing being the big P-car it is.
