Where did you move from? Nowhere warm I hope.
You first of all need some kind of Polar Bear resistant transport, so the SAV category might be a good one to shop in.
If that fails to suit your taste, I highly recommend anything Mazda with good snow tires. Truly, the snow tires won't do you much good in the city since no-one else has them and hence the cars are more clogged with cars than snow. However, from a "Feeling Morally Superior" point, they are well worth the money.
Mazdas are good because they are so boring no-one will even bother stealing or keying the thing.

On a serious note, I'm looking at some 318's, a 5 series, a Saab 93, and a Mitsubishi Lancer.
On a not so serious note I wrote the guys selling the Lancia and told them I'd write a check for $17500 if they included the 3 year warranty. I know they won't, but it's fun to think about!
