In a few months I will be in the market for a first gen scion xb. They were never imported to Canada, so the few that are here are often overpriced. I am thinking I may fly or drive into a city, buy one and drive home (I'll deal with the taxes etc). I figure I should probably get one from a southern state to delay the rust which will eventually kill it up here, but I'm not sure where to go. I know atlanta seems to be the hotbed of cool old cars, but what about a scion? I'm located one hour from buffalo, so I would prefer not to have to go to the west coast. Any suggestions? Anyone know of an xb for sale? (must be 5spd)

    1. Miami

    2. Atlanta

    3. Dallas Ft. Worth

    4. Houston

The Texas towns are huge, but quite a bit farther to drive back. I find Miami to be ahead of Atlanta as far as real cars go (Atlanta's rep. is mostly from weird cars and PBR-fueled redneck monstrosities.) Miami cars can still rust though, sea salt rather than road salt. I have two Texas cars and they are awesome, the sun is rough on plastics/rubber though.

Friend of mine did the same thing, flew to Miami today to pick up a new daily driver, spend a day & 1/2 there, be back to the southern shore of Lake Ontario for work monday morning...

With a quick search on autotrader, miami seems to have more selection and better prices on scions than atlanta. I can live with a bit of sea salt since it will soon be subjected to tons and tons of road salt for the rest of it's life.

Just jump over the boarder. NY., Mi., Oh.,Pa., it doesn't much matter. The car isn't going to be rusting out. Save the airfare and put it towards undercoating, if you're really that concerned about it. I found a lot of lower mileage XBs(2005-06) for decent prices when I was searching. I bought mine in Albany, one owner '06, 5speed, with 38k. There were plenty with 54k-70k miles for under $7k asking price.
