I don't want some free loaders, just a nice hot spark. I got to order a crank wheel setup as my birthday present from my wife, so I can finally get my MS2 in (and give Jonny Pruitt his MS1 back) and I'd like to go ahead with wasted spark. What coilpacks should I use? I need to be able to find them at my (admittedly lame) Pick-N-Pull.

1991+ Ford Escort coil packs throw spark across .052"-.056" gap. Reliable. Cheap.

I'm using 5SFE Camry coilpacks. They have the igniters built in and you can trigger them off the LED transistors, but you have to bias them.

The Escort coil pack (also used on Focuses and V8s) is certainly a good choice, but another good option is the coil packs off the turbo DSMs. Might be able to score one cheap from someone who's "upgraded" to coil on plug before he realizes the coil on plug isn't as hot as the stock coil pack.

The only thing I didn't like about the Escort coil pack is the wierd connection at the coil. You pretty much have to run Escort plug wires, which may not be appropriate lengths. I used a Dodge/Mitsubishi style coil pack from an SRT4. It uses standard terminals, so one universal plug wire kit made two sets of plug wires, and I was able to make them the correct lengths for where I placed my coil pack.

4 for Escort EDIS, 1 DSM, and 1 Camry (which was actually my first thought after rebuilding my mother-in-law's 5SFE).
