E36 M3 Sedan is the answer

Well maintained examples under $8k. Junk that needs everything under $5k.

    Back seat - check,

Easy on tires and brakes (2950 lbs) - check,

    Fast 5.3 sec 0-60. 50/50 weight distr. - check,

Lots of aftermarket support and easy to fix. - check

Track ready (big brakes, 7* caster, over engineered suspension duty, agile steering, supports big tires) - check

The e36 m3 CSL was 2950 - the North American cars were closer to 3400# My Estoril Blue 97 coupe was 3280lb on DG Motorsports scales in oakville.

It's been a while since I had mone, but I believe the sedan was 85# heavier then that...long way from 2950!

I like the M3 idea, but for the record a USA-spec E36 M3 isn't hitting 60 in 5.3 seconds without new heads, a turbo, or a shot of nitrus.

Keep the Caddy and I'll sell you my turbo Miata track car pretty darn cheap (and I'm in FL too!). It's a blast to drive out on the track.

I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering - how cheap is 'pretty darn cheap'?

For this crowd? I'd probably sell it here for $3500, which would include both sets of race wheels and tires I have (13" with Hoosiers and 15" with Toyos). Full turbo set up, Megasquirt, 1.8 diff swapped in, brand new(!) Hard Dog roll bar with vinyl wrap, race seat, rewebbed harnesses on both sides, etc.

Do you have a hard top for it too?

Unfortunately not. In fact, there is no top period.

OP: DTR's Miata is a hell of a deal. It would even be a great platform for ChumpCar or Lemons.

A WRX would meet the OP's requirements pretty well.
