Whilst running errands today, I ended up at a light behind some bizarre oversized blob of a vehicle that was de-badged other than a Mercedes symbol. For some reason the weird gargantuan proportions made me laugh. It looked berkeleying obese.

Google tells me it was a GLE Coupe. Curb weight of 4,751 to 5,379 lbs.

Apparently not very difficult to roll?

Dumbest rollover ever

The way things are going it seems like soon the roads will be filled with little more than huge brodozers & these types of monstrous crossover turd "utility" vehicles.

Bigger is better. Yay!

Zaftig?

Well, that's kind of a "plus-sized and alluring" kind of thing, like a Z32.  Not obese, but also not skeletal or even athletic-toned.

Deutsche for THICK is DICK.

It couldn't be more relevant.

I see those pretty regularly around here (the AMG versions look even "fatter" due to the beefy rubber they carry). Man, they are beyond ugly.

I don't know what the word is for portly, but I do know the German word for a bra is Stopemfromfloppin.

Hah!  I saw one of those the other day and had the same thought.

It looks like a wildly oversized hatchback.  I suspect the hatch alone weighs about half of what my entire Ghia weighs.

Wait a minute. I always thought it was Keepemfrombobbin. Damn you, Google translate.

I hate that entire class of vehicles. Don't get me started... again.

Wups, too late.

As much as they try, I will never accept the use of "coupe" to refer to a 4-door vehicle.   Also, customizing doesn't make them look any better:

The number of X4/X6, GLA/GLC/GLE, and VW MLB Evo Platform cars I see here in Tahoe is way too high. Your "coupe" with 500hp and steamroller tires is a TERRIBLE snow vehicle and I couldn't imagine feeding one without our $6/gal premium.

That thing has no visible redeeming qualities at all.

It's funny, because I read the thread title before clicking and thought: "Mercedes"

I was following one of these on a country road a while back. The rear end was bouncing like a 5 year old in berkeleying jumpy house.

The wheels can also be used to make cole slaw.
