Where can I buy JUST the clip that keeps the CV cup from sliding on the splined shaft?
For reference: 
The clip I need is actually goes on the jack shaft of the two-piece passenger side axle of the ZX-2.
It appears that some CV Boot replacement kits come with these clips but I'd rather not spend $20 when I need $0.10 worth of clip.
The closest thing I could find at McMaster is spiral retaining rings, which aren't quite what I need.
You should be able to get it at the dealer. We sell them separately for Mitsubishi.
Was that all that was wrong with the trans in the ZX2?

The spider gears in the stock diff ate themselves.
The transmission is now fully functional with the addition of an Mfactory LSD but the shop that did the work couldn't get the CV cup over the clip that was on the jackshaft so they left it out. It works as-is and would probably be okay for a long time with just street driving. However, I don't want to rallycross on it like this.
We had a car in for service and it had an aftermarket reman CV shaft in it. The aftermarket shaft didn't have a groove for the clip where it should have and the whole shaft popped out which resulted in the trans eating itself.
So, probably a good idea to get a clip

I am really curious. Who picked up the tab for that repair.

Where did you go to have the ring gear machined off the old diff and put on the MFactory? Mine will be here on Thursday and i'm trying to figure out who to get it to. It's beyond my abilities.

I had Colletti Motorsports in Dayton do the diff install. There's at least one person on ClubProtege that will do the ring gear work and ship you the diff ready to drop in if that's the only part you aren't comfortable handling. I knew I sure wasn't going to get the transmission apart, diff installed, and put back together in any sort of timely fashion.
Do you have any extra axle clips floating around with all your upcoming swapage?

Yeah, that's all that i'll be needing done. I've got a buddy that will do the removal/install for me, but i need someone to prep it.
You're more than welcome to the clips off the EGT axles if you want them. Not sure exactly when they'd be available, this weekend if all goes well, but next weekend is a bit more likely knowing my luck.
Actually, i need to inspect the MX3 axles. If they don't look that great, i'd rather give you the clips off those, since i'm trying to get rid of the EGT stuff as a full drop out for someone to swap their LX.

The vendor who sold the defective axle.
Reman CV joints are usually a rather terrible idea. Whenever I have done any work with them, I either just repacked the factory ones and put new boots on, or bought actually brand new ones.
